How to Fix “Instagram is Always Initializing”
Introduction
Instagram is undeniably the most restrictive of the social platforms we support. There are a lot of different login statuses and some have encountered getting their account stuck in Initializing. We’ll discuss here some solutions that can help get your IG account to a Valid status.
Instagram is Always Initializing
💡 STOP the account in Social Profiles before completing the steps below to stop the account from making API calls as well.
For users who have reported this issue, what’s puzzling is that the accounts are logged in correctly on the browser but the status still shows Initializing under Social Profiles. There are two common reasons why this issue happens:
.NET 4.8 not installed
For Su Social to run smoothly, your Windows PC must be running on .NET Framework 4.8. If you have an earlier version running, that contributes to why the IG account can’t get validated properly.
To identify the .NET Framework version you are running on, you may use the Registry Editor:
- Go to your PC’s Start menu, choose Run, type regedit, and then click OK. (Note: You must have administrator access to run regedit)
- In the Registry Editor, copy and paste the following subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\NET Framework Setup\NDP\v4\Full. If the Full subkey isn’t present, then your PC does not have .NET Framework 4.5 or later installed.
- Check for a REG_DWORD entry named Release. If it exists, then your PC has .NET Framework 4.5 or later installed. Its value corresponds to a particular version of .NET Framework (see table here for reference). In the following figure, for example, the value of the Release entry is 5323325, which is the release key for .NET Framework 4.8.
In a different example, the Release entry is 378675 and that is the release key for .NET Framework 4.5.1 which means you need to update the .NET Framework in this case.
How to update the .NET Framework?
You may download .NET Framework 4.8 from https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download/dotnet-framework/net48 by choosing the runtime option.
Open the file you downloaded and it will start the installation. Follow the steps and it will later prompt that the installation is complete.
After which, you need to restart your PC in order for the changes to be applied to all applications.
Operating System (OS) is not supported
If your .NET Framework is already on version 4.8 and still to no avail, then you need to check if your PC’s operating system is among the supported OS listed here. If your current OS is any version than the ones listed there (eg. Windows XP, Windows Vista) then you’ll need to upgrade to at least Windows 7 Service Pack 2.
Windows 7 SP1
Most users who are under Windows 7 use the Service Pack 1 don’t need to install a new operating system to continue using Su Social. They can change the Service Pack version to SP2 using the steps below:
- Open Run from the Start menu and type regedit & click ok.
- Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Windows.
- Double-click on CDSVersion. (or right click it and click modify)
- Change the value Data to 200 and click ok.
- Close every thing and restart your PC & check My Computer properties.
