How to Fix “Su Social Keeps on Restarting”
Introduction
There are times when Su Social alerts you that the software will restart for a new update. In some cases though, the update does not seem to push through and the software repeatedly restarts. We’ll discuss solutions that you can try in order to solve this issue.
Su Social Keeps on Restarting
Restart settings
It could be that you have instructed the tool to restart at certain hours. You can easily check the two options under Settings > Software Settings.
.NET 4.8 not installed
In order for Su Social to run smoothly, your Windows PC must be running on .NET Framework 4.8. If you have an earlier version running, that contributes to why the update does not go smoothly.
You may use the Registry Editor to identify the .NET Framework version you are using:
- Click on the Start menu, choose Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
- In the Registry Editor, copy and paste the following subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\NET Framework Setup\NDP\v4\Full. If the Full subkey isn’t present, then your PC does not have .NET Framework 4.5 or later installed.
- Check for a REG_DWORD entry named Release. If it exists, then your PC has .NET Framework 4.5 or later installed. Its value corresponds to a particular version of .NET Framework (see the table here for reference). On the image below, the Release entry is 378675 and that is the release key for .NET Framework 4.5.1 which means you need to update the .NET Framework in this case.
Updating the .NET Framework
You may download .NET Framework 4.8 from https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download/dotnet-framework/net48 by choosing the runtime option. Open the file you downloaded and it will start the installation. Follow the steps and it will later prompt that the installation is complete.
After which, you need to restart your PC in order for the changes to be applied to all applications.
Antivirus installed/Windows Defender enabled
If you have an antivirus installed on the machine where you are running Su Social, please check the quarantined items if there were Su Social files that got deleted and restore/recover them. Some files may have been mistakenly deleted by the antivirus/Windows Defender, thus delaying the update.
Additionally, add Su Social to the antivirus or Windows Defender exclusion list so it will not consider Su Social as a threat and no Su Social files will be deleted moving forward.
